Tag Question

 Rule-1:  Auxiliary verb থাকলে Tag question করার সময় Auxiliary + Subject এর pronoun হবে।

Ex: 

Karim is a good boy, Isn't he ?

He is not a good boy, Is he ?

* Note: Not বা negative word না থাকলে not যোগ করতে হবে। আর Not বা negative word থাকলে তা উঠে যাবে।

Rule-2:  Auxiliary verb না থাকলে Tag question করার সময় ____

• verb present form এ থাকলে এবং  verb এর শেষে s বা es না থাকলে Tag question শুরু হবে   do দিয়ে । 
• verb present form এ থাকলে এবং  verb এর শেষে s বা es  থাকলে Tag question শুরু হবে  does দিয়ে। 
• verb past form এ থাকলে Tag question শুরু হবে  did দিয়ে। 

Ex: 

He reads a book, doesn't he ?

They saw a bird , didn't they ?

* Note:  Not বা negative word  না থাকলে not বসাতে হবে , থাকলে তা ওঠে যাবে। 

Rule-3: Let's / Let us থাকলে Tag question হবে Shall we?

Ex:

Let's play football, shall we ?

Rule-4: Let me/ Let her/ Let him/ Don't  থাকলে Tag question হবে will you?

Ex:

Let her sing a song, will you ?

Rule-5: Request/ order/ advise বুঝালে Tag question হবে will you?

Ex:

Give me a glass of water, will you ?

Rule-6: Everybody/everyone/somebody/someone/anybody/anyone দিয়ে sentence শুরু হলে tag question হবে don't they? 

Ex:

Everybody hates a liar , don't they? 

Everyone will die one day, won't they?  

* Note : 

• verb past form এ থাকলে Tag question হবে  didn't they 
• modal auxiliary verb থাকলে Tag question হবে modal auxiliary + not + they 

Rule-7:  Nobody/ none দিয়ে sentence শুরু হলে tag question হবে do they? 

* Note :

• verb past form এ থাকলে Tag question হবে  did they ?
• modal auxiliary verb থাকলে Tag question হবে modal auxiliary + they?

Rule-8: Everything/anything/something দিয়ে sentence শুরু হলে tag question হবে auxiliary + not+ it ? 

Ex:

Everything is fair in love and war, isn't it ? 

Rule-9: Nothing দিয়ে sentence শুরু হলে tag question হবে auxiliary +  it ? 

Ex:

Nothing is impossible , is it ? 

Rule-10: Here/there/it দিয়ে sentence শুরু হলে tag question হবে auxiliary + here/there/it ?  

Ex:

There are two high school in our village, aren't there ?

* Note: Not বা negative word না থাকলে not যোগ করতে হবে। আর Not বা negative word থাকলে তা উঠে যাবে।

Rule-11: Negative word ( few, little, bit, hardly, seldom, rarely, no sooner had) থাকলে tag question করার সময়  not বা না-বোধক আসবে না ।

Ex:

I have hardly seen him, have I ?

A barking dog seldom bites, does it ?

Short form for tag question :

am not ---- aren't/ain't

is not ----- isn't 

are not ---- aren't

do not ----- don't

does not ----- doesn't

did not ----- didn't

have not ----- haven't

has not ------ hasn't

had not ----- hadn't

can not ----- can't 

could not ----- couldn't

shall not ----- shan't 

should not ----- shouldn't

will not ----- won't 

would not ----- wouldn't

may not ----- mayn't

might not ----- mightn't

must not ----- mustn't

ought to ----- oughtn't

need to ------ needn't

dare to ------ daren't
